About InsulinPoint

A free, evidence-based clinical insulin decision-support tool — built for patients, pharmacists, and diabetes care teams.

Our Mission

Insulin dosing is one of the most complex, high-stakes calculations in everyday diabetes management. Errors — even small ones — can result in dangerous hypoglycemia or uncontrolled hyperglycemia. Yet most patients and even many clinicians rely on mental math, outdated charts, or confusing smartphone apps.

InsulinPoint was created to bring the full precision of pharmacy-grade clinical rules directly to your browser — free, private, and always accessible. No account registration. Zero clinical data collection.

What InsulinPoint Calculates

Meal Bolus (500 Rule)

Calculates your Insulin-to-Carb Ratio (ICR) using the 500 Rule: ICR = 500 ÷ TDD. Then computes the exact units needed for any carbohydrate intake.

Correction Bolus (1800 Rule)

Derives your Insulin Sensitivity Factor (ISF) via the 1800 Rule: ISF = 1800 ÷ TDD. Computes exact correction units based on your current vs. target glucose.

Active IOB Decay Guard

Models exponential insulin-on-board decay across rapid, regular, and mixed insulin types. Prevents dangerous stacking by factoring remaining active insulin.

TDD & Basal/Bolus Split

Profiles your Total Daily Dose and calculates the recommended 50/50 basal-to-bolus split. Estimates starting doses from body weight for newly initiated insulin therapy.

Rx Days Supply & BUD

Calculates pharmacy days supply from vial size, concentration, and daily dose. Applies FDA Beyond-Use Dating (BUD) rules for opened insulin pens and vials.

Clinical Reference & FAQ

Comprehensive 800+ word clinical education guide covering insulin types, dosing principles, safety rules, and commonly asked patient questions.
