Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 29, 2026

At InsulinPoint, protecting your privacy is our core priority. This Privacy Policy details our 100% client-side calculation model, how cookies and web analytics are used, our advertising partnerships with Google AdSense, and your rights and options.

Privacy at a Glance (Summary)

1. Information We Do Not Collect (Zero Health Data Storage)

InsulinPoint does not collect, transmit, or store any personal health information (PHI).

When you use our insulin dosage calculators, carb correction tools, insulin-on-board (IOB) estimators, or days-supply calculators, all calculations are executed solely in your browser via client-side JavaScript. The values you type (such as current blood sugar, target blood sugar, insulin sensitivity factor, carbohydrate grams, and body weight) never leave your computer or mobile device.

We do not operate a user database, do not have access to your clinical entries, and cannot view or recover any values entered into the calculator forms.

2. Information Collected Automatically (Web Infrastructure)

Like nearly all modern web applications, when you visit InsulinPoint.com, our web hosting and Content Delivery Network (CDN) infrastructure (such as Cloudflare) may automatically collect standard, non-personally identifiable technical access logs. These technical records may include:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) address (often anonymized / truncated)
  • Browser type, version, and operating system
  • Referring web page URL and exit pages
  • Date and timestamp of page requests

This information is utilized solely for technical diagnostics, DDoS protection, server performance optimization, and cybersecurity compliance. It is not combined with any calculation data.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a web server. Local storage is a web browser mechanism that stores key-value pairs directly in your browser.

A. Browser Local Storage (Preferences)

We use your browser's localStorage exclusively to preserve non-identifying UI preferences across sessions:

  • ip_theme — stores your visual theme preference (light, dark, or system default).
  • ip_bg_unit — stores your preferred blood glucose measurement unit (mg/dL or mmol/L).

These values reside only on your device and are never sent to our servers.

B. Third-Party Cookies

Third-party services integrated on our website—specifically Google Analytics and Google AdSense—use cookies to perform analytics and serve relevant advertisements.

4. Google AdSense & Third-Party Advertising Disclosures

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements across InsulinPoint.com to support the free operation of this clinical tool. In accordance with Google AdSense program policies and international privacy standards, please note the following:

  • Third-Party Vendor Cookies: Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to InsulinPoint.com or other websites on the Internet.
  • Advertising Cookies: Google's use of advertising cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites across the Internet.
  • Personalized & Non-Personalized Ads: Depending on your location and cookie consent choices, advertisements displayed may be personalized (tailored to your inferred interests and browsing history) or non-personalized (contextual to the page content).
  • Health Information Separation: Google AdSense does not have access to any clinical dosages, blood glucose levels, carbohydrate calculations, or health values entered into our calculators. All calculations remain strictly client-side.

How to Opt Out of Personalized Advertising:

You have the right to control how your data is used for online interest-based advertising. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting any of the following resources:

5. Google Analytics (GA4)

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors engage with InsulinPoint (for instance, identifying high-traffic guides, popular calculator tools, average session duration, and device screen sizes).

Google Analytics collects aggregated statistical information via cookies. It does not collect identifiable health inputs or calculation outputs. Information generated by the cookie regarding website use is transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States and worldwide.

If you wish to prevent your web browsing data from being used by Google Analytics, you can download and install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. How to Manage and Disable Cookies in Your Browser

Most web browsers allow you to modify cookie settings to block all cookies, accept only first-party cookies, or alert you when a cookie is placed. You can adjust these settings in your browser's preferences:

  • Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Third-party cookies
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection / Cookies and Site Data
  • Apple Safari: Preferences / Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data / Block all cookies
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies

Please note that disabling cookies does not affect the core functionality of our clinical calculators, as calculation algorithms run independently of cookies.

7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have specific privacy rights:

  • Right to Know / Access: You have the right to request disclosure of what personal information is collected, used, disclosed, or shared.
  • Right to Delete: You have the right to request the deletion of personal information collected from you. (Because we do not store personal information, no customer database exists).
  • Right to Opt Out of Sale / Sharing: We do not sell personal data for monetary consideration. However, the sharing of identifiers or browsing activity with advertising networks like Google AdSense for cross-context behavioral advertising may be considered "sharing" under CPRA. You may opt out of personalized ad targeting using the tools outlined in Section 4.
  • Non-Discrimination: We will never discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.

8. European Economic Area & UK Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you reside in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) grants you rights regarding your personal data:

  • Legal Basis for Processing: We process non-essential cookies and advertising identifiers on the legal basis of your consent where required by applicable law, and infrastructure technical logs on the basis of legitimate interest in maintaining site security and functionality.
  • User Rights: You have the right to access, rectify, restrict, erase, or object to the processing of your personal data, as well as the right to data portability.
  • Opt-out & Consent Withdrawal: You can withdraw consent or manage advertising cookie preferences at any time through Your Online Choices.

9. HIPAA & Medical Privacy Notice

InsulinPoint.com is an educational and clinical decision-support web reference. We are not a "Covered Entity" or "Business Associate" under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Because we never collect, transmit, store, or receive Protected Health Information (PHI) on our servers, HIPAA data storage requirements do not apply. By architectural design, your health calculations are strictly isolated within your own web browser.

10. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

InsulinPoint is intended for adults, diabetes educators, pharmacists, clinicians, and caregivers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If a parent or guardian uses the tool for pediatric calculation reference, no data identifying the child is ever collected or stored by InsulinPoint.

11. External Links & Third-Party Advertisements

Our website contains links to external clinical resources, academic references, and third-party advertisements delivered via Google AdSense. Clicking on a third-party advertisement or external link will direct you to an external website governed by that third party's privacy policy and terms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or representations of external sites.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect modifications in our technology, advertising partnerships, or legal requirements. Any updates will be published immediately on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. We encourage visitors to review this page periodically.
